Party with my new flatmates

Nude and Sidebar 19/04/

I actually have to learn at the moment but I'm not really in the mood for that (oh what a surprise! *g*).

I got home from 21 hours of work (well I had four hours of sleep in between, I have to admit that) yesterday at 3am (...since it was at 3am I should have said today instead). That's why I'm still completely wrecked so it wouldn't be any good to do anything.
It's not that I haven't done anything yet (I'm at least at the stage in which I know which vocabulary I should know in Japanese for my assessment tomorrow. The only thing that's left to do is actually learn it...*g*). I just figured that I have done enough for today... We'll see tomorrow if I was right. Probably I'm not but what the heck?
What ever, I decided it is more important to tell about my Thursday night! At least that is far more fun! At least for me! hehe

As I said it was Thursday. And as any given Thursday (I talked about that a hundred times already I know...) it was time for Nude Bar!
On my way to get there I met one of my new flatmates, Chris.
In the beginning of April he and Berni moved in. I liked them from the start. We talked a lot and so I told them about the Nude Bar and invited them to join us one Thursday.

Since it was our Easter brake (or at least since everyone had two weeks of break except me of cause) there were no classes on Friday so Chris and Berni decided to meet there.
I went ahead because it was already half past ten when Chris and I met at Central and Nude Bar closes at twelve.

Krithika, Sumin and me at Nude Bar

When Nude Bar closed at midnight, during our compulsory standing in the middle of the street to piss of the security, Chris called to ask what we were about to do.

Well, although we were still deciding what to do I felt safe enough to tell them to meet me at Side Bar...*g*
Well about 20min later we headed off to Side Bar. On our way to get there we miraculously lost nearly all the others, so I ended up arriving with Dani, Charlotte and a girl in a dress which is pretty typical for Australian girls (means: it looked quite ridiculous and didn't leave a lot room for imagination...). I had no idea where Jue was gone and I was a little afraid of ending up alone in Side Bar. As if being there in the first place wasn't worse enough...*g*
Thank heavens I didn't end up alone although I was pretty lost for the first few minutes since I finally lost Dani. But a few seconds later I finally spotted Chris, what is pretty easy since he is about 1.95m.
Shortly after that I found Jue again. It wasn't that easy as to find Chris and Berni but we managed it anyway.

Jue, me and my new flatmates: Chris and Berni (v.l. - I hope I didn't mix up right and left again...*g*)

We had a lot of fun, starting with my first Jaegerbomb (a shot of Jaegermeister that is thrown in a glass of Red Bull... tastes quite good, but it is ridiculously expensive!) .

The real Australian party - Kylie Minogue's Locomotion: Dani, Amanda, Sarah and Oriol joined right in *g*

We partied until about 3am and I had a couple of pictures of my life taken. At least that's what Oriol assured me of each time after taking them...

Well that is not one of the pictures of my life, but I like it anyway! *g*

I think I might have found two companions for Thursday nights... *g*

Sonny's Visit

1st day:

At last there was the day where my sister arrived in Sydney to visit me.
Although we planed it for about half a year that day came as kind of a surprise for me. I was so preoccupied with other stuff (yes, I have to admit that this other stuff consisted most of all of partying, but anyway...there was a bit of uni stuff too... ) that I completely forgot about it.
Well, anyway, I was lucky enough to have a look at my calendar the day she took her flight. I send her an email with my last instructions in the faint hope that she would read it before she left. I was lucky though! She did read it, although it was in Bankok and so she wasn't able to bring any "Brausepulver" from back home. So again no Vodka-Ahoi for me...*sniff*

On Wednesday the 4th of April at 6:05 am, two days after her departure from Berlin, my sister arrived at Sydney Airport. After only five hours of sleep (I went to the movies with Patchi and Zjenja the night before) I was even more tired than she was and so my joy over her arrival wasn't that obvious. But never the less I was happy to have her here!

She arrived without the faintest hint of a jetlag! That is so unfair! I felt so wrecked up the first days after my arrival! But Sonny? Not the even a bit! So not fair!

Anyway, after we brought her stuff home and went grocery shopping we met Eva at Gloria Jean's where I had my first coffee of the day which I desperately needed after I figured that 5AUD for a simple coffee at the airport was way too expensive!

After my first shot of caffeine that day I was finally awake and we could go shopping in Chinatown. I'm not going to tell you how much we spend, I just say that this was probably the most expensive week here in Sydney. *g* But it was worth it!

Unfortunately I had classes this day and so I had to leave my sister alone at uni. I just showed her the computers, gave her a little money to spend (I felt a little like a mother, since I paid in Chinatown and now I was actually giving her money to buy some candy...*G*) and left her in the food court.

After I finished class we went for the ultimate touristy tour. We visited Darling Harbour,

took some obligatory touri pics...

Gosh I love Sydney!!!! It's such a beautiful city!!!!

...and saw Sonny's first kangaroos!

Well, she didn't really buy it, but the guys tried really hard... *g*

Although Sonny should have been the one who falls asleep in front of her computer she didn't show any signs of being tired. In the contrary! She was still wide awake and I was the one who's eyes developed the urge to close every two minutes for a little nap in front of my screen...*g*
But we finally went to bed and I could get the sleep I so desperately needed!

2nd day:

The next morning I left my sister with Eva (I could have chosen a worse baby sitter -hehe!) to do a trial out at Hannah's pies and to go to my Spanish class. In between the trial out and my class I hurried home where Sonny and Eva were waiting with lunch. We enjoyed our salad with calamari and planed the rest of the day. Unfortunately I just had an hour left before Spanish began so I had to hurry back to uni. That way I wasn't even able to help to clean the dishes...what a pity! *g*
Sonny and Eva went to Darling Harbour to have a look at the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge by daylight.
After that we met again at Central and Eva and me introduced Sonny to our most favourite friend:
the ♥ Taro Milktea with Pearls ♥!!!
Sonny wasn't really as excited about it as Eva and I had hoped but at least I had an excuse to have one that day...*g*

We went home and relaxed a little. Since it was Thursday the night belonged to Nude and Side Bar. But before we headed to meet all the others we went to the student's Residence Gumal where René had invited us to dinner to celebrate his girlfriends arrival in Sydney.

I know it doesn't look like that, but it was soooo delicious!!!! MMMMHHHH!!!!

that's the good thing when your invited....

...you just have to wait, can just relax on the sofa and eat some chips ...

...while the others are working! *g*

We finished
our delicious dinner and our glasses of Bailey's (in which there is sooo much more alcohol than in German Bailey's that I was drunk the second I smelled it!) and headed off to Nude Bar to meet Eva and all the others.

Sonny and me arriving in Nude Bar

Koldo (sorry Jü, but I just have to say it again! Gosh! Those eyes!!!!), Aarti and me in Nude Bar

Traditionally we left Nude Bar... well it was more that we got kicked out (because they closed not because we misbehaved!!! at least not more than normally...*g*), but who cares?*g*... to go to Side Bar where the party went on.
Of cause we didn't make it directly to Side Bar because part of the tradition is to stand in the street in front of the Nude Bar and pretend to decide what to do next! I guess we just do that to piss of the security! *g*

Jü, Pachi, Cjenja and his girlfriend pretending...I mean, deciding where to go!
(Well, I chose a bad example since they really went somewhere else than to Side Bar...*g*)

So we finally arrived at Side Bar and I don't regret our decision since we had a hell lot of fun!!!

I love this pic *g*:

We partied like it was 1999! (Haha!!!)

3rd day:

That's why the third day began very very quietly. We slept way too long! We actually had planed to go to the Botanical Garden but we thought better of it especially since the weather wasn't that fine. We staid home until about 5pm and left then to meet Eva at Paddy's market. So we did what we do the best: SHOPPING!!!! *g*
Again I won't tell you how much we spend but let me put it like that this time if they were about to close down because they didn't have any money left we saved them for a loooong time!!! *g*

After hours of shopping we returned home. Sonny took a nap and I tried to concentrate not to bang my head on my desk if I had fallen asleep...

At 9pm we went for Sarah's birthday party where a big bucket of sangría was waiting for us!
And that was the place where I could be found for the rest of the night, in the kitchen next to the sangría! *G*

The three ambassadors of the TU Berlin preparing to do their job... representing how we use to party in Berlin! hehe

At last it was time for the birthday girl... well actually we had to "pre-celebrate" since the security shut the party down before midnight.
So Sarah turned 23 a little early than previously planned. *g* But she did that with a lot of dignity and most of all with a lot of cake!!!

After a lot of cake we set off to the next party... or at least that was the plan. We went to the city after the bar we wanted to enter was too crowded. There we staid for about two senconds in a casino.
On the way to get there Sonny and I learned a little Spanish from Koldo, Manu and Dani.
Sonny learned the sentence: "Hola tío bueno, vamos a casa!" which was inspired by the German sentence Koldo knows:" Komm nach Hause, Kinder machen!" (That is sooo cute!)
Me in the contrary learned a sentence I don't even know the real meaning of since they refused to translate it. And so I probably said something pretty dirty to Oriol...*g*

my sister, our teacher *g* and me

My sister and me were pretty tired and so we didn't join the rest of the group when they went to the Abercrombie Hotel.

4th day

Again we slept until noon. After two nights of party we were pretty exhausted and so we decided to take it slow and went to shopping centre at Bondi Junction where I used my credit card for the last time in my life! It will probably be cut in half the next time I use it anyway...*sniff*
In the evening I had to work. My sister visited me at the Loewenbraeu. You may think: " Oh, that is so nice! Her sister visits her at work!" but I'm convinced she just did that to make fun of me and mock me with pics she took that day! *g*
She met some Australians (now she knows more real Australians than I do! Well, I have to admit that this isn't a very hard thing to do...) and went to another bar. After I finished work we went home and had another quite evening which I despratly needed.

5th day

On Sunday I had to work for three hours after which I met Sonny at Bondi where we had a wrap and mashed potatoes.
Still stonkered we went home.
I feel a little guilty because of that since I think that Sonny didn't come here to just sit at home...

6th day

On her last day Sonny and I decided to go to the Taronga Zoo.
But first we thought that we deserved something special and so we went to have a pedicure in the morning! *g*

Following that we made our way to the Taronga Zoo via ferry. This was the best time to take some more pics of the city.

again: I LOVE Sydney!!!

We arrived at the zoo and went directly to the wallabies and to the other Australian animals. After taking about a million pictures we went to see the giraffes. On our way there we were just in time for the feeding of the penguins!!! Gosh, they are sooo cute!!!!! (I don't want to annoy you with more pics of cute little penguins...but they were just so adorable!)

Since our memory cards were nearly full (haha, just kidding! But we took an awfully lot of pictures!) we hit the road back to Darling Harbour where we met Eva and Vanessa for the last real Aussie experience. No, sorry about that but I'm not talking about surfing!!!
I'm talking about Emu and Crocodile pizza! *g*
Sonny wanted revenge for the pic in with her and the emu that just hid his head when I pressed the trigger of the cam back in the zoo and so she descided to have its mother for dinner. *g*
Eva in the contrary simply took the crocodile pizza because crocodiles are generally not very popular...(haha)
Vanessa and me sticked to the vegetarian part of the menu. I ordered a sweet potato salad. That way I didn't have to feel guilty of eating someone's relatives...*g*

soooo delicious!

7th day

Well actually you can't really call it a day since Sonny had to leave at 5am. We got up at 4am and Sonny packed the rest of her stuff (excluding a pair of white shoes *g*) and I called a taxi.
I helped her carrying her bag down to the street, sat her in the cap and saw her leaving for the airport.
I was pretty sad about that. There was so much more I wanted to do with her and that I wanted to show her... and most of all: I already missed her.

An Sonny: Hab dich lieb und vermisse dich ganz, ganz doll!!!!

Learn to Surf Weekend

Surf weekend - 16/03/

On Friday the 16th of March at exactly 1800 it was time for our real Australian weekend! We went on the Learn to Surf weekend in a small town two hours south of Sydney.
Well, it wasn't 1800 sharp, actually it wasn't even 18 hundred something anymore when we left the Scubar to hit the road. One of the buses was stuck in a bad traffic jam so we headed off to the camp about one hour late.

In the bus all members of our little surf-nubies-group were in an excellent mood. Loud Surfer music was guiding our way to the camp and the bus, although with no dampers, was humming monotonously over the road.

I have to admit that from time to time I doubted that we arrived safely in the camp... ;)

We arrived in the dark. That way it was really hard to see anything of the camp at all and so it wasn't until the next morning (, after a couple of beer in the near by park and a very short night)
that we could have a look at our cute camp.

Despite only four hours of sleep there was no time to relax, it was time to surf!!!

After a small breakfast we became our wetsuits in which we looked really amazing. And how comfortable wet clothes are! Unbelivable! *g*
It was quite an afford to fit in there but finally we made it and we were ready to go to beach to collect our boards...

Don't we look gorgeous?
(I should have skipped breakfast...hehe!)

On the beach we got our boards and headed to the water. But it still took quite a while to get on the board. First we had to do a lot of ridiculously looking exercises which were only for the instructors to have a good laugh! At least that's what I'm convinced of!

Yes... the stranded wale on the picture.... that's me!

Well unfortunately I couldn't make it to stand it on the board this day, so there are no further pics of that day. But at least now I know how a surfboards looks from the bottom! And I know pretty well how much it hurts when it hits your head over and over again! I mean who can say that? And that way I had a very good excuse to drink as much salt water as I wanted without anyone thinking I was a freak! What a day! *g*

After that day we all just fell to bed with our slightly worn out knees...
No one was able to move without whining, but never the less we were happy. The others because they did stand on the board and me because I had swallowed enough salt to kill a normal human being but just enough for me to eat a potato... and that without the dispensable potato under it!

We all agreed, we found heaven! Well at least something that is quite close to it, if you forgot about the pain every move included and the throbbing of the knees...

The next day my whole body was sour but that could keep me from surfing again. What kept me was my inability to surf... *g*
But after I got a bigger board than the one I had the day before I finally managed to do it! At last!

Which size do you want? - Give me the biggest you have! *G*

It was amazing to stand on the board and wait until you are carried back to the beach! I have to admit that I was carried back to the beach just because I didn't know how to get off the board in decent way and without looking like a wet sac of potatoes....

That was the story of how I learned to surf in Australia...
What I didn't tell is that this is also the story of how I got sinusitis with bad fever, completely wrecked knees and feet in Australia.

But it was worth it! I would do it again at any time!

Last but not least: Thanks to our instructors! You had a hard time with me! *G*
