Last weekend I visited my first Australian Football League game. René had the idea to do that and organised the ticks.
After I finished work at Harry's I made my way to the Sydney Cricket Ground where I met Gordon, Sarah, Aarti, Amanda, Sumin, Jasmin, Alex, Torsten and René. (Well actually it wasn't quite that easy... René told me we had to enter the stadium at gate I or J so we would meet there. However I found out that there is no gate I to the stadium and gate J was for members only. That made me pretty nervous since the game was about to start 40min from then and so I called René. I must have sound pretty desperate...*g*. What ever, the important thing is that we met what we did at gate C by the way... ;) !)
Before we entered we wanted to dress appropriately so we had a little pit stop at the fan shop and Amanda, Gordon and me bought fancy caps and Aarti got herself a very posh scarf.

Don't we look like real Aussi Football fans???
:D
After entering the stadium we were confronted with the next problem. We had no idea where our seats were! We ask an elderly couple who were happy to help us but unfortunately were pretty confused by the details on our tickets.
At last we found our seats... but not before getting a beer to have the real footi experience. *g*
So we sat in the stadium, enjoying ourselves and waiting for the game to start!

hehe, a little too up high *g*

nice look Gordon! You should use that one more often! *G*
Finally the game started! I have to admit that in the 1st quarter I tried really hard to figure out what exactly was going on down on the field. I ended up with the knowledge that they were allowed to do pretty much everything and a bad headache...
The last three quarters me and the other girls started chatting and didn't bother about the rules of the game any longer! It was sooo much fun!
The guys were quite concentrated on the game... I wonder if they really were interested or just pretended to be because they were expected to... ? Just kidding! ;P

René and Torsten consulting over the next tactical step that would help the swans to win the game (hehe!)

Aarti and me commenting the players short which were pretty tight *G* - we should adopt that in Germany for the soccer players!

We had seats with restricted view... I really wonder who thought up to put that roof there! Well, I mean didn't that person think about it or was it that he just didn't care? Whatever we were all right...
In the end the swans won with 100 and something to 50 and something (I didn't really care after my third beer...*g*).
So another one of our Australian experiences ended and we walked home with the knowledge that at least I will never understand that game!
I wonder what I will feel like after my first cricket game...
