After their trip to Tassie, which I couldn't join since my sister was in town, the whole bunch decided to have a weekly lunch on Sundays. Since there were people from so many different nationalities they figured that it would be fun, if every Sunday someone from another country should cook something typical for their culture. And so it came that on the 13th of may it was the German's turn.
Juergen ask me for help and invited me about what I'm pretty happy since I probably would have been forced to learn on that Sunday if it hadn't been for his invitation. (Igh, learning! What would the world have come to if I started learning on Sundays??? - or any other day of the week...*g*)
So all the Germans (Sarah, Kerstin, Gordon and me) met at 11am in front of Coles. Just Juergen was missing since he and I went partying the night before and obviously just I was stupid enough to get up after four hours of sleep to be on time. (I still hate the person that decided that we meet that early! *g* Just kiddin'!)
Juergen was replaced by Oriol one of the Spanish guys. I pitied him a little since he was the only one who couldn't speak German and although we gave our best to stick to English we sometimes forgot about it and starded arguing in German.
After arguing about everything for ages (Uri really got a hint of how Germans really are! haha! We love to argue and complain!!! And that's what we did until we left Coles with 130AUD less.)
We headed with the trolley full of food to the student's residence Gumal. There we woke Ricardo to lend us some pans and in the first place to let us in the building where we started to prepare on the rooftop.

We decided to introduce the others to a typical German menu which was appropiate even for vegetarians:
1st dish: traditional German soup of which the name I unfortunately forgot *g*
main dish: "Zwiebelkuchen" (Onion Cake)
dessert: chocolate fondue (not really "German", but Germans love it!)

It took us longer to prepare everything than we had expected and we calculated way too much food for everyone! After we finished the main dish there was still 3/4 of the vegetarian onion pie and one onion pie with bacon left.
Quique is longing to eat while the others kill time with German music (for instance: Rammstein - igh!- and Silbermond)
Never the less we went on with the dessert. This part was in Sarah's and my responsibility and after everyone stole some chocolate during the long waiting period before the lunch we were pretty concerned that there wouldn't be enough left but we were lucky! It was more than enough.

So after the dessert we were all way too full to move! We were cram full but happy... and couldn't wait until next week where Ricardo was about to cook for us a real Mexican lunch! And he promised it to be hot and spicy!
Mexican Lunch 20/05/
And hot and spicy it was!
I still can't move after all that food! And my eyes started to water after one bite of my tortilla with his salsa. And I would die for another bit of his guacamole!!! YAMMYYY!
I arrived at about half past two at the rooftop of Gumal and Ricardo, Silvia and Asun were already in the middle of preparing.
At first there was nothing left to do for me but then Silvia couldn't go on chopping the onions because her eyes started to water like mad. So I took over for her. I was lucky that there weren't many onions left since my eyes started to burn pretty soon as well. *g*

After a while the others started to arrive. Sarah and I helped Ricardo with the tortillas. A very high position with a lot of responsibility which Ricardo gave to us only reluctantly. But we managed to heat them up in the microwave very well after Ricardo took them out of their carton. We just finished doing that in Ricardo's flat and were on our way back to the rooftop when the fire alarm started. (NO! It wasn't our fault! It started in another flat! Honestly! *g*)
So we were forced to walk down the fire stairs and join the others in front of the residence. Sarah was still holding the tortillas Ricardo put us in charge of. We couldn't leave them on their own in the building! Imagine what would have happened if there really had been a fire!
And so we were standing there with 64 tortillas (we must have looked pretty hilarious! haha) and watched two fireman of the NSW fire brigade trot into the building in a pretty bored and pissed of manner. (You could think this happens there everyday...haha, it actually does happen! Asun assured us!)
As soon as we figured there was no fire we went to back to the rooftop where Ricardo was waiting impatiently for the tortillas.
Since there was really nothing more for us to do, we sat down at the terrace and enjoyed one of the most beautyful autumn days I've ever seen (sunny 24°C! In autumn! I love Sydney!!!).
Soon afterwards we started eating!
The Mexican Menu:
1st dish: Patatas a la Riojana (which is a very spicy soup with patatas y chorizo. It's actually Spanish but since Ricardo is the only Mexican the Spanish guys helped him out a bit)
main dish: Tortilla con pollo with guacamole y salsa
dessert: I forgot the name again, but it was marvellous!!!! Caramel out of condensed milk with cookies! I LOVE it!!!!
Everything was so delicious that I even forgot about the salt! And you know that normally everything needs more salt! *g*

So in conclusion this lunch was one of the best I had in years! Thanks Ricardo!
I'm really looking forward to next week! I don't know who's turn the cooking is but I'm sure it's going to be another great Sunday!
